Mahogany

Summer is all about fresh fruits and flavors. One of our favorites at season's peak right now is fresh cherries. Ruby red, juicy and sweet, cherries make a great addition to cocktails, and this one pairs them perfectly with Belle Meade Bourbon in a boozy concoction that goes down way too easy thanks to the addition of Eli Mason's gomme syrup

We're kinda obsessed with gomme syrup right now. Once commonplace in the back bar, it's coming back in force thanks to the silky texture it provides to booze. If you don't have access (you really should stock a bottle in your bar) you can use a rich simple syrup (2:1 sugar to water ratio). It won't be quite as smooth, but it will still be damn tasty. Drink up.

4-5 fresh cherries, pitted
1/4 fresh lemon, cut into chunks
2.5 oz Belle Meade Bourbon
.5 oz Eli Mason Gomme Syrup

method:

Place pitted cherries and lemon in the bottom of cocktail shaker. Muddle well to express juice and flavors from the cherries and lemon. Add gomme syrup and bourbon and ice. Shake for 20-30 seconds and pour into rocks glass. Enjoy....responsibly, please!
